Brett Hutton has signed a two-year contract extension at Nottinghamshire.

The 29-year-old, a product of the county's academy, will remain at Trent Bridge until at least the end of the 2024 season.

Hutton returned to the club in 2020 following a three-year stint at Northamptonshire, and was Nottinghamshire's leading wicket-taker in the One-Day Cup last season.

While he has not broken into the County Championship or T20 Blast sides on a regular basis - he played six red-ball games in 2022, and did not feature in the Blast - Nottinghamshire consider Hutton to provide valuable depth to their bowling attack.

"The way things have gone for me and for the team have shown that returning to the club was the right move," he said.

BRETT HUTTON: CAREER BOWLING STATS
First-class: 73 matches, 248 wickets, ave 26.5, eco 3.20
List A: 32 matches, 44 wickets, ave 29.13, eco 5.56

"I'm having to fight for my place, and that's giving us the competition we need to drive standards and keep improving."

Head coach Peter Moores said: "His ability to read a batter and use subtle variations means he often finds a way to take wickets whatever the surface."
