COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO ROUNDUP: While batters dominated for Durham and Northamptonshire against Gloucestershire and Kent, respectively, 16 wickets fell at Lord's between Middlesex and Worcestershire
Bristol (day one of four): Durham 456-2, Gloucestershire
Ben McKinney and Alex Lees produced a triple-century opening stand as Durham dominated the opening day of the County Championship Division Two match with Gloucestershire at Bristol.
Having been invited to bat first, the visitors romped to 456 for 2 by the time bad light ended play 7.5 overs early, with 21-year-old McKinney hitting a career-best 214 not out and Lees 129.
Their partnership of 305 in 58 overs featured 49 fours and 3 sixes as they took advantage of a benign pitch and a short boundary on one side of the ground.
David Bedingham weighed in with an unbeaten 76 on another sobering day for Gloucestershire following an innings defeat by Middlesex in their first game. Will Williams was their only successful bowler with 2 for 107.

Canterbury (day one of four): Northamptonshire 409-1, Kent
Northamptonshire's top three batters all hit centuries as they battered Kent on day one of their County Championship Division Two match at Canterbury, posting 409 for 1.
Openers Ricardo Vasconcelos and Luke Proctor hit 127 and 131 not out respectively, as part of a record-breaking stand of 224 for the visitors against Kent.
And when the partnership was finally broken, Calvin Harrison blazed an unbeaten 124.
Jas Singh was the only Kent bowler to take a wicket, recording figures of 1 for 95 before bad light stopped play.
It was an almost entirely joyless day for the majority of a crowd of 1,005 and an almost perfect one for the visitors.
Northamptonshire had posted 722 for 6 at the St. Lawrence last year, the highest ever score by any side against Kent, and with this, and several other chastenings, in mind, the hosts were reportedly preparing more bowler-friendly surfaces this year.
However, Northants chose to bat, and Vasconcelos set the tone by flicking the final ball of Matt Milnes' opening over for six.
Old Trafford (day one of four): Lancashire 351, Derbyshire 0-1 - Derbyshire trail by 351 runs with nine wickets remaining
Shoaib Bashir took 4 for 76, his best figures in domestic cricket, to help Derbyshire fight back on the first day of their County Championship match against Lancashire at Emirates Old Trafford.
Having only signed for his new county in January, Bashir made the most of his opportunity to bowl on a pitch offering him little help, as Lancashire were dismissed for 351, a total they managed in large part due to Marcus Harris' 125, his fourth century for the county.
Josh Bohannon had earlier made 73 and put on 146 for the third wicket with Harris. But thanks to Bashir's late afternoon spell of 3 for 27 in 10 overs, the game is far more evenly balanced than had seemed likely when Lancashire were 252 for 3 just before tea.
Ben Aitchison took 3 for 57, but Derbyshire suffered a late blow when Caleb Jewell chopped on to Tom Bailey's last ball of the day without scoring.

Lord's (day one of four): Worcestershire 191, Middlesex 91-6 - Middlesex trail by 100 runs with four wickets remaining
Brett D'Oliveira produced the only innings of substance on an otherwise bowler-dominated opening day of Worcestershire's County Championship match with hosts Middlesex at Lord's.
While others poked, prodded and flailed, the Pears' skipper showed grit, patience, craft and belatedly aggression to hit 75 out of the visitors' total of 191.
Ryan Higgins took 3 for 39 in the Middlesex bowling effort, while youngsters Sebastian Morgan and Naavya Sharma claimed two apiece.
D'Oliveira's runs looked all the more precious as Middlesex slumped to 32 for 3 in reply before Max Holden and Ben Geddes steadied the ship with a stand of 54.
However, both fell in quick succession in the gathering gloom, and Ryan Higgins too was bowled as the hosts crumbled to 91 for 6 by the close, Oliver Hannon-Dalby (3 for 26) and Tom Taylor (2 for 13) the chief destroyers.
