COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION TWO ROUNDUP: The England seamer made his fifth first-class half-century as Durham recovered from an exceptional opening burst from James Anderson
Derby (day two of four): Gloucestershire 498, Derbyshire 144-3 - Derbyshire trail by 354 runs with seven wickets remaining
Henry Brookes and Will Williams narrowly missed out on a place in the record books but put Gloucestershire in a strong position on the second day of the County Championship Division Two match against Derbyshire.
Williams made 98 and Brookes 89, both career-bests, and shared a partnership of 191, just two short of Gloucestershire's all-time ninth wicket record stand set by WG Grace and Sidney Kitcat in 1896.
They carried the visitors to 498 with England off-spinner Shoaib Bashir finishing with 3 for 116 from 31.1 overs.
Williams then removed Matt Montgomery, but Wayne Madsen marked his first innings of the season after recovering from a shoulder injury with an unbeaten 62 as Derbyshire closed on 144 for 3, still 354 runs behind.

Chester-le-Street (day two of four): Lancashire 370, Durham 295 - Durham trail by 75 runs
Matthew Potts led a lower-order fightback from Durham as they defied a brilliant bowling effort from James Anderson and Lancashire on day two of their County Championship clash.
Potts and Ben Raine cleaned up Lancashire's tail with minimum fuss in the morning, as Durham bowled Lancashire out for 370.
However, the hosts' batting line-up struggled to click into gear during the early stages of their reply, with Anderson's early double blow handing Lancashire the initiative.
Tom Bailey took two poles in the afternoon to put the visitors in cruise control, but Potts' fifth first-class half-century, along with defiant knocks from Raine and Callum Parkinson, led a fightback and helped Durham reach 295 all out, a first innings deficit of 75.
