Dates: Sunday, July 11, 2021 - Wednesday, July 14, 2021

Start time: 11am

What's the lowdown?

The 275th Roses match in first-class cricket. Both sides have already secured passage to the next round so this is firmly a contest with pride on the line, though 50 peer cent of points will be taken into the next phase.

Yorkshire lead the way by just two points over rivals Lancashire, after the latter were held up by Kent at Old Trafford.

Yorkshire meanwhile beat Northamptonshire last time out, bowling the hosts out on day three to secure a 53-run success.

Who's in form?

Harry Brook scored his third first-class century in the win over Northants, a score which set up the success at Wantage Road.

Adam Lyth and Gary Ballance have both acted as dependable cogs in the Yorkshire batting machine this term, helped by Dawid Malan, Joe Root and Tom Kohler-Cadmore when they have been available.

James Anderson went to 1,000 first-class wickets thanks to his 7 for 19 against Kent. In the run-scoring department, Alex Davies (495) Josh Bohannon (485) and Keaton Jennings (445) have led the way with two centuries and 11 fifties between them.

Who said what?

Yorkshire coach Andrew Gale doesn't believe his side require any extra motivation to perform despite qualification for the next round having already been secured.

“Any Roses game is a tough game," he said.

“It showed that with how the cricket was at Old Trafford. We were gutted not to come away with a draw.

“The preparation isn’t ideal with us playing two nights before in the Blast, but they’re in the same boat.

“The good thing is we’ve got a pretty much different bowling attack to T20. The seamers didn’t bowl a great deal at Northampton, so we’ll have a fresh bowling attack.

“And we know how to play at home. We’re pretty good on our own patch in all formats.

“Hopefully we hit the ground running and are not 25-7 on the first morning!

“You get to this stage of the season and every game is a big game."
