The Cricketer wraps up the best of the action during day one of round five of the Vitality County Championship in 2024
Derby (day one of four): Derbyshire 189-8, Sussex
England fast bowler Ollie Robinson took two wickets as Sussex had the better of a gloomy first day against Derbyshire in the Vitality County Championship match at Derby.
Although not at his best, Robinson bowled five consecutive maidens either side of lunch and claimed 2 for 48 after the visitors won the toss and put Derbyshire in.
Former Derbyshire all-rounder Fynn Hudson-Prentice took 2 for 52 including the wicket of Luis Reece who top scored with 50 from 78 balls.
Aneurin Donald hit nine fours in his 44 which came off 46 balls but when rain prevented any further play shortly after 3pm, Derbyshire were 189 for 8.

Lord's (day one of four): Middlesex, Leicestershire - no play due to rain
Middlesex and Leicestershire must wait until Saturday to get their County Championship match underway after persistent rain ruled out any play on the opening day at Lord's.
Heavy showers throughout the morning ensured that the pitch remained covered and, although the rain eased after lunch, umpires Paul Baldwin and Rob White ruled that the surface remained unfit for play following a 4pm inspection.
Both teams are undefeated after their first four fixtures of the season, with Leicestershire going into the game as Division Two front-runners and Middlesex three points behind them in third place.

Headingley (day one of four): Glamorgan 109-4, Yorkshire
Glamorgan opener Billy Root scored a half-century against a Yorkshire side including his older brother Joe during a weather-affected opening day of the County Championship clash at Headingley, which the hosts had the better of.
Left-hander Billy, aged 31 and almost two years Joe’s junior, posted a measured 51 off 95 balls before lunch, with Glamorgan going on to close at 109 for 4 from 41 overs having elected to bat first.
Rain forced a three-and-a-half-hour delay from 1.45pm before Yorkshire struck twice quickly in the delayed and mini-evening session. Bad light then meant no play beyond 6pm.
