The Cricketer wraps up the best of the action during day two of round six of the Vitality County Championship in 2024
Cardiff (day two of four): Sussex 278, Glamorgan 411-9 - Glamorgan lead by 133 runs with one first-innings wicket remaining
A brilliant recovery led by hundreds from Colin Ingram and Kiran Carlson saw Glamorgan finish day two of their Vitality County Championship Match against Sussex on 411 for 9, a lead of 133 on first innings.
Glamorgan were in real trouble in the opening session of the day after a burst of three wickets from Jayden Seales saw them slump to 41 for four before a record partnership of 315 from Ingram and Carlson took the home side into a first-innings lead.
Ingram was dismissed for 170 and Carlson made 148, by far the two highest scores of this match so far.
Seales completed his third five-wicket haul of the season just before the close as he further cemented his place as the leading wicket-taker in Division Two.

Northampton (day two of four): Gloucestershire 409 & 77-0, Northamptonshire 171 - Gloucestershire lead by 315 runs with 10 second-innings wickets remaining
Marchant de Lange's 13th five-wicket haul in first-class cricket left Gloucestershire anticipating a first County Championship win since the end of the 2022 season on day two of their division two clash with Northamptonshire.
The South African paceman, who’d already secured a six-fer against Middlesex this season, produced consistently hostile bowling to return 5 for 42, including wickets with successive balls as the hosts were hustled out for 171, 238 behind Gloucestershire’s first innings total of 409.
De Lange played his part in the visitors reaching that tally too, his unbeaten 36, including two huge sixes, helping Josh Shaw add 71 for the ninth wicket, Shaw equalling his career-best with 44. Siddarth Kaul did at least complete a five-fer on debut for Northamptonshire, finishing with figures of 5-76.
Gloucestershire, who haven’t won at Wantage Road since 2010 declined to enforce the follow-on. Instead, openers Cameron Bancroft (36 not out) and Ben Charlesworth (41 not out) took the visitors to 77-0 and an overall lead of 315.
