Southampton (day four of four): Hampshire 503 & 62-2, Durham 432 - match drawn

Felix Organ and James Vince put on 53 to take Hampshire out of a mini-collapse to complete a Vitality County Championship stalemate with Durham which had been inescapable since Friday.

Matthew Potts – 2 for 19 – reminded England of his skill by removing Hampshire’s openers and added a small amount of jeopardy back into the match.

But Organ and Vince made it safe with risk-free blocking before bad light and rain brought about the inevitable result at 3.40pm.

Hampshire are still winless after five matches in 2024 but picked up 13 points to Durham's 11, while the visitors remain undefeated since their return to Division One.

Canterbury (day four of four): Worcestershire 618-7d, Kent 407 & 146-4 - match drawn

Kent survived some occasional alarms to bat out a draw with Worcestershire on the final day of their Vitality County Championship at Canterbury.

The captains shook hands just after 5pm, with Kent on 146 for 4 in their second innings, still 65 runs behind Worcestershire's mammoth first innings core of 618 for 7 declared.

Ben Gibbon claimed two for 38, but the visitors used nine different bowlers during Kent’s second innings and failed to break down some stiff middle-order resistance, spearheaded by Harry Finch who was unbeaten on 48.

Trent Bridge (day four of four): Lancashire 331 & 252, Nottinghamshire 503 & 81-1 - Nottinghamshire won by nine wickets

A maiden first-class century from young wicketkeeper Matthew Hurst salvaged some pride for Lancashire but could not stop Nottinghamshire from completing a nine-wicket first victory of the season in their Vitality County Championship match at Trent Bridge.

Nottinghamshire had begun the final day of this Division One clash sniffing an innings win, holding a 72-run advantage with Lancashire six down. Yet 20-year-old Hurst defied them with an impressive 104 that included 10 fours and four sixes.

Lancashire were dismissed for 252, leaving the home side needing just 81 to win with 50 overs remaining, so the result was never in serious doubt, but given that they had been 61 for 6 on the third evening, the visitors could console themselves with having put up a fight.

The Kia Oval (day four of four): Warwickshire 343 & 209, Surrey 464 & 89-1 - Surrey won by nine wickets

Surrey took just 39 minutes on the fourth morning to complete an impressive nine-wicket victory against Warwickshire at the Kia Oval and go 21 points clear at the top of the Vitality County Championship.

Dom Sibley finished unbeaten on 46 and Ollie Pope scored 13 not out after Surrey captain Rory Burns, on 30, hit Jacob Bethell’s left arm spin straight to deep mid-on soon after skipping down the pitch and lofting the same bowler straight for six.

Sibley collected two boundaries for firm on-drives against Bethell while Pope swept Bethell for four and also drove Rob Yates’ off spin to the extra cover ropes in a little cameo.
