ECB chiefs to push 39-team T20 pyramid as replacement for The Hundred

HUW TURBERVILL: It has not been determined if sides in the model would be named after their counties or the towns or cities in which they are based. They would be part-owned by the ECB, and part by private investors

I do not know the logistics of players timetables for the various competitions but The Hundred has been a great success providing a fresh, fast moving and exciting game to watch. If cricket is to lose its image of a slow plodding sport and encourage the cricketers of tomorrow to get involved it needs to stay. It works, why replace it.

No mention at all of what this would mean to women’s set up?

Another face saving gimmick for the ECB. If they invested in existing tournaments with the same enthusiasm we wouldn't need any others. It's another farcical attempt to justify their existence. It's got little or nothing to do with prioritising cricket. The T10 is just round the corner. Let's dumb it all down and rake in the cash.

The 39-team Blast/T20 option with a top flight of eight sides would be great. Fingers crossed the Counties to choose this route.
