India have named their 15-strong squad for the Commonwealth Games, with veteran allrounder Harmanpreet Kaur set to lead the side in Birmingham.

Smriti Mandhana has been named as her vice-captain.

It's a largely familiar squad from India with opener Shafali Verma, star allrounder Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, and spinners Sneh Rana and Rajeshwari Gayakwad all selected.

Jemimah Rodrigues, who missed out on selection for the 2022 Women's World Cup, has also earned a spot on the plane as have Sabbhineni Meghana – who was a reserve player during the World Cup - and pace bowler Meghna Singh.

Perhaps the only surprise inclusion is wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia, who hasn't played a T20I since the 2020 World Cup final against Australia. Prior to that, however, she was a regular member of India's T20I squad, notching up 50 caps in a little over two years.

21-year-old Yastika Bhatia is the second wicketkeeper in the squad, with Richa Ghosh named among the reserves alongside Poonam Yadav and Simran Dil Bahadur.

India have been placed in a group with Australia, Barbados and Pakistan in the eight-team tournament and begin their campaign against Australia on July 29.

India squad: Harmanpreet Kaur (C), Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, S. Meghana, Taniya Sapna Bhatia, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Pooja Vastrakar, Meghna Singh, Renuka Thakur, Jemimah Rodrigues, Radha Yadav, Harleen Deol, Sneh Rana

Reserves: Simran Dil Bahadur, Richa Ghosh, Poonam Yadav
