PROMOTIONAL FEATURE

It's no bad thing to be spoilt for choice when it comes to your club’s clothing brands wanting to adorn your club's kits – but what about those who clamour for a more retro, classic or unbranded look on their shirts?

At MR Cricket Hockey, a new innovation means the kit wear supplier are able to offer style to suit any cricket club or school team, whether that comes with a famous name like Surridge, Shrey, Gray-Nicolls, Adidas, and Joma, or traditional style with just a crest or emblem.

"We're really excited about our teamwear offering and we've seen huge growth in that side of our business," says MR Cricket Hockey co-founder and director, Merrick Fuller.

"All the processes of embroidery and print are completed in house, so we control the lead time and the quality.

"Since we set that up four years ago, we've seen a number of new clubs come on board and more importantly current clubs continuing to use our services, which is key to us and we're really pleased about that.

"We're about to introduce an unbranded option as well, so if clubs don't want to have a brand then we have a facility where we can supply unbranded kit with just your club badge, and sponsors too.

"We have a sublimated offering too so you can have your own design, which really works well with the coloured kits that you see more and more now in the English game and delivered in just four weeks.

"You make your own bespoke designs via our online Kitbuilder and this includes unlimited names, numbers and sponsors."

MR Cricket Hockey is keen to support individual cricketers too, to the extent of offering one lucky reader of this article a £750 sponsorship deal for the summer to help with the cost of their equipment.

Despite a wet start to last summer, cricketers young and old have already been piling into their large shop, near Cambridge, over the winter, keen to get back out on the field again.

"We have lots of optimism for this year," says Merrick.

"We've had plenty of lovely new kit delivered to us.

"We've had lots of parents and children in, optimistic for the future after going through their winter training.

"Everyone's really excited for the season. There have been some really nice, new products coming to market."

Among the popular new lines are the Gray-Nicolls Neocore range of bats, featuring a patented handle with big shapes and lightweight pick-ups. The first batch sold out straightaway upon arrival in November.

Conscious of the cost of the game and making sure customers get value from their purchase, MR Cricket Hockey also offer items like the Shrey cricket starter kit, featuring both bat and all necessary protective equipment, for under £80.

"We have people travelling many miles to come visit us and all our stock's held on site so if there's anything people want to try, they can," adds Merrick.

"We've been around for 13 years now and our success has been built on customer service, so we want people to come here, trial our store, try the kit on, get the right advice and there's always three or four members of trained expert staff on site to help.

"Equally, if people can't come in because of the busyness of everyday life, we're more than happy to help people over the phone, email or WhatsApp to get the right equipment. We supply that service and are happy to do that.

"We want customers to come away with the right equipment for them – and that doesn't have to mean the most expensive."
