Shane Warne has accused Cricket Australia of being influenced by "greed" in their decision to expand the Big Bash.
The competition's fixture list will increase again next season after a full home-and-away schedule was agreed upon by organisers.
The move relates to a bumper new TV rights deal struck between the governing body, Channel Seven and Fox Sports.
Warne tweeted his opinion that an increase in the number of games played over the course of the tournament only goes to detract from the competition's overall value.
He wrote: "Australian Cricket should be an equal partnership between the players & the board, then everyone would be on the same page, sure they won’t always agree - but if both parties attitude is - what’s best for Australian Cricket & not themselves - then Cricket & the fans would b happy and hopefully greed would then be thrown out the door too!
"For example - it’s ridiculous that the BBL will have a lot more games next season & beyond - It’s a great comp & less is more should be the attitude - not let’s put more games on for $$ - diluting a wonderful product".
The lucrative TV arrangement is worth $1.182billion to Cricket Australia, who revealed the developments earlier this week.
In 2017-18, the Big Bash was 43 matches long, with 10 round-robin matches preceding a knockout section.
That total in itself was eight games more than the previous campaign.
