Brisbane: Adelaide Strikers 161-4, Brisbane Heat 90 – Adelaide Strikers won by 71 runs.

Rashid Khan ended his BBL 11 campaign in style, taking six wickets for the first time in a T20 as the Adelaide Strikers defeated Brisbane Heat.

Ahead of departing for Qatar to represent Afghanistan, the leg-spinner took 6 for 17 to set up a comfortable victory which included the Bash Boost bonus point.

Adelaide had posted a solid 161 for 4, with Rashid hitting 13 off four balls, but the failure of any batter to pass 35 kept the target achievable.

However, Rashid ensured a win that sees the Strikers jump from last to fifth, two points ahead of Brisbane and four off the playoff places with three games to play.

Strikers opener Matthew Short made a fast start, but his dismissal for a 19-ball 27 in the fourth over set the tone for a Brisbane innings where steady starts were not built upon.

Henry Hunt (25) and Jake Weatherald (35) added 53 in 45 balls for the second wicket, hitting only two boundaries in the stand.

Jonathan Wells made an unbeaten 23 without finding the rope, before big hits from Rashid and Thomas Kelly (24 not out off 16 balls) pushed Adelaide to a respectable total.

The Heat’s bowling effort was led by Will Prestwidge (2-34) and Matthew Kuhnemann (1-27).

Brisbane's reply stuttered early with Nathan McSweeney (5) and the returning Chris Lynn (7), who was bowled by Strikers debutant Henry Thornton, departing to leave them 17 for 2.

A 45-run stand between Lachlan Pfeffer (23) and Ben Duckett (24) steadied the innings, before Pfeffer's run out sparked a dramatic ninth-over collapse.

Rashid removed Sam Heazlett and Jake Lehmann for golden ducks to secure a team hat-trick and when Short bowled Duckett two overs later, the Heat were 67 for 6 and had no way back.

Prestwidge then fell to Rashid for a duck, before he saw off Kuhnemann (1), compatriot Mujeeb Ur Rahman (0) and Liam Guthrie (0) in his final over.
