"I have so many fantastic memories from Adelaide Oval and can't wait to get to work with Jason Gillespie and the other Strikers support staff," said Botha, who has previously served as head coach of Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL and Islamabad United in the PSL.
"The squad has great potential coming off a really strong season last summer and I'm looking forward to what we can achieve together in BBL12."
Gillespie added: "Johan has an incredible cricket mind having played in every format and various leagues across the globe. A man of his experience will be such an asset for our players and us as a collective coaching group. I can't wait to work with him this summer."
