Hobart Hurricanes have signed Johan Botha for the eighth edition of the Big Bash.

The experienced South African allrounder moves to the Tasmanian franchise from Sydney Sixers after three years with his former club.

Botha had also been on the books of Adelaide Strikers earlier in his career.

The 36-year-old arrives following the departure of legspinner Cameron Boyce to Melbourne Renegades.

JOHAN BOTHA: T20 CAREER
Matches: 204
Runs: 1,960 (ave 19.60)
Strike rate: 113.22
Wickets: 155 (ave 28.28)

"From what I saw last year during BBL07 was a very settled team that was lead very well on and off the field," Botha said.

"So I wanted to be part of a team that I think can win BBL08.

"I want to help the younger players hopefully become even better players sooner and to help the team win games and ultimately the BBL title."
