With its neon yellow graphics, anyone batting with the Optimax SY Edition as light fades in the evening won’t get lost.

Our testers were fans of this particular façade, with editor Huw Turbervill noting it made the bat “look like a highlighter pen” - prompting him to further highlight its sweet spot.

He went on to compliment the “very good middle” which “really pinged”, finding overall that the model would tempt him to part with his cash “depending on the price point”.

Former England international Alex Tudor also liked the “well presented” colour scheme and said the bat “performs well” to match, while journalist Nick Friend added he would consider buying from Optimax on the strength of this model despite having never heard of the brand before.

One Reed’s School pupil described the bat as “very heavy” though, believing it to be suited to “big hitters who may open or come out at the bottom order”.

Another found it “weighty” in the “thick handle”, although agreed with the middle of the bat being a particular highlight of the model.
