Whether Gunn & Moore have been inspired by a frequent T20 scoring sequence – 6 0 6 – or the BBC’s favourite Saturday night football phone-in is unclear.

What is clear from our testing process, however, is that their Brava DXM 606 represents great value for money.

At a mere £131.99 from Owzat you can secure a bat which came in at a rating in the crucial performance category of 9 – with Georgia and Will both grading it as a 10.

Nick captured this with his judgement that it was a “generally good bat that would suit multiple kinds of player. I felt like it had both a power game and finesse. It reminds me of Alexander Usyk.”

James felt the “lovely glossy front and smooth grains was exactly what you’d expect from a GM bat”. If there is a uniformity and predictability to GM bats, then it’s a reassuringly so.

Georgia was less taken by the design, feeling that it “looked a bit bland”. But she very much agreed with its high performance rating, saying that it “had a lovely middle, with one of the better pings”.

The 39mm edges cannot have harmed it on that front.

In terms of substance over style, she rated it like the much-respected BBC newsreader Huw Edwards.
