Pat Cummins will miss the second game as Australia look to give seamers chance to recuperate

Josh Hazlewood will be rested from Australia's first one-day international against England and Pat Cummins will miss the second following their Ashes exertions.

The pair bowled 190.5 and 197.1 overs respectively during the Test series and will be given chances to recuperate ahead of the tour to South Africa in the spring.

Cummins and Mitchell Starc will lead the line in Melbourne on Sunday before Hazlewood returns for the second game on January 19.

That will open the door to Andrew Tye and Jhye Richardson, who both stand a good chance of making their ODI debuts over the course of the next 10 days.

Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins will be given a rest during the one-day series

Speaking last week, Cummins said he was expecting to be stood down from some of the five-match series.

"There was a bit of chat we might rest from one or two," he said. "We've got a bit of a break before the ODIs start.

"I don't know yet. It takes a little bit to get over each Test but once you're over a Test, you're ready to start bowling and 10 overs in an ODI is a bit easier than a Test."

Meanwhile, Cameron White has been restored to the one-day squad after injury to Chris Lynn.

Australia ODI squad: Steve Smith, David Warner, Pat Cummins, Aaron Finch, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Tim Paine, Jhye Richardson, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Andrew Tye, Cameron White, Adam Zampa.
