Cricket Australia have named their new permanent chairman but the appointment has been met by opposition from some quarters of the game Down Under.
Earl Eddings, who has been serving as interim chairman since the resignation of David Peever earlier this month, will formally take up the role on a full-time basis. Eddings has been a director of the governing body since 2008.
The former grade cricketer will be in charge for less than a year - he will have to seek re-election at the CA AGM in 2019 - but his ascension to the organisation's top job has still not gone down well.
Cricket Victoria are unhappy that the appointment has been made before other outstanding positions on the Cricket Australia board had been filled.

Its chairman, Paul Barker, said in a statement: "Cricket Victoria has made its view clear and our preference remains that the interim chairman arrangements were maintained while Australian cricket undertakes a thorough process to fill the recent board vacancies.
"We have actively encouraged Cricket Australia to pursue this opportunity through an established nominations committee — a process that Cricket Victoria firmly believes would deliver the best outcome for Australian cricket."
Eddings, the managing director of risk-management company Riskcom, was named CA deputy chairman just this year.
"Cricket is only what it is in Australia because of the commitment of our people, the fans and the thousands of volunteers around the country," he said.
"I am honoured to serve in this position and am committed to making cricket stronger and a game that we can all be proud of."
