Cricket Australia have moved to quell fears the series of the second half of the Big Bash League group stage could be disrupted by the development
Concerns Australia's third Test against India could be under threat have been tempered following an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in Sydney.
The SCG is due to host the penultimate match of the series between January 6-11.
Matches during the second half of the Big Bash League stage are also scheduled for January including both derbies between Thunder and Sixers.
Border restrictions have been put in place after 28 cases were detected around Avalon beach in north Sydney, but Cricket Australia say it is too early to have a knock-on effect for their plans.
"We're monitoring the situation; we're not panicking at all, staying calm," CA chief-executive Nick Hockley told SEN Radio.
"Adelaide, a few weeks ago we had that pizza-shop outbreak and through that process, we worked very calmly to get the players in Adelaide on a charter plane, out of Adelaide within 24 hours and that really saved the summer.
Batting decisions and World Test Championship matters... Australia v India Test series: Things to watch
"We've got the Sydney Test and the BBL in NSW after that, so the fact we're here in Adelaide, we've got the next Test in Melbourne, it's really watch, wait and see and I think the governments around the country have handled the pandemic so well, so we'll watch, learn and stay in touch."
The development could lead to David Warner, currently in Sydney recovering from his groin injury, moving to Melbourne to ensure he avoids any further travel restrictions.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground, host of the Boxing Day clash between Australia and India, remains on standby to host back-to-back Tests if required, according to ESPNCricinfo.
