Green is replaced by Mitch Marsh, who makes his first Test appearance for his country since the final match of the 2019 Ashes series in England
Cameron Green misses the third Ashes Test with a hamstring strain.
Green, who featured in both of Australia's wins at Edgbaston and Lord's, will sit out the Headingley clash.
He is replaced by Mitch Marsh, who makes his first Test appearance for his country since the final match of the 2019 Ashes series in England.
At the toss on Thursday (July 6), Australia captain Pat Cummins said Green's injury was only mild and that he expects the allrounder to be available for selection for the fourth Test at Old Trafford.

Marsh's inclusion is one of three changes made by the tourists in Leeds.
Todd Murphy replaces Nathan Lyon - who was the victim of a bad calf strain at Lord's. The 22-year-old off-spinner has played in four Tests, all of which were packed into a month during the tour of India in the spring.
"It's his fifth Test match in the last few months and he was a star over in India, so he's pumped and ready to go," Cummins said.
Finally, Scott Boland returns to the XI in place of Josh Hazlewood. Boland featured ahead of Mitchell Starc at Edgbaston but was dropped for the win at Lord's.
Australia XI: David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Travis Head, Mitch Marsh, Alex Carey, Pat Cummins, Scott Boland, Todd Murphy
