England have named an unchanged squad for the final Test of the Ashes summer, with seamers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue both in with a shout of featuring at the Kia Oval.

England can no longer win the series after Manchester's weekend rain ensured that Australia will go into the fifth Test with a 2-1 lead, but they can still secure a second successive home drawn series by winning in south London, as they did in 2019.

Any temptation to change up the squad has been resisted on the back of a terrific performance from Ben Stokes' side that for three days seemed to be setting up the thrilling decider that the series deserved, before the weather set in.

Dan Lawrence remains the reserve batter, while there was some concern over Chris Woakes, who felt soreness in the fourth Test, but he has been passed fit to take his place in the 14-man squad, as has James Anderson, who has only taken four wickets in the series so far.

He replaced Robinson, who played the first three Tests of the series, at Old Trafford. Robinson, who suffered a back spasm at Headingley but was fit for the fourth Test, could return at the Kia Oval.

Moeen Ali, who made a half century from No.3 last week, will likely continue in that role; with uncertainty over whether he will feature on the winter tour of India and over his Test future, this could be the final Test of his career – for a second time, having previously retired from Test cricket in 2021.

England squad: Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood

Well. After lengthy, educated chats with quite a few other TEST CRICKET fans, we agreed on 2 things. 1....Ben Foakes should have definitely played. 2....Jonny Bairstow basically admitted in his hilariously 'feisty' aftermatch comments that he wasn't fit enough for wicketkeeper duty. But we should all feel sorry fer poor little Jonny. Bullsh*t. 8 out of 12 catches dropped Missed stumping BRING BACK BEN FOAKES
