Jacob Bethell ramped the first delivery after the tea interval over Alex Carey's head for a boundary as England closed in on a first victory in Australia for 15 years.

Bethell, playing his first match of the series in place of Ollie Pope, made an accomplished, eye-catching 40 from No.4 as the tourists won by four wickets.
