The third Men's Ashes Test at Adelaide Oval was consumed by drama before a ball had even been bowled, after news of Steve Smith's withdrawal from the Australia XI due to illness.

Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed he was suffering from vertigo-type symptoms before play, which saw him replaced by Usman Khawaja.
