Captain Pat Cummins says both players were held back during the second half of the Brisbane Test in order to preserve them for the remainder of the series
Australia are hopeful Josh Hazlewood and David Warner will be available for the second Ashes Test against England at The Gabba despite their roles being limited during the second half of the nine-wicket win in Brisbane.
Hazlewood, having bowled 13 of the 50.1 overs the tourists faced in their first innings, is struggling with a minor side problem.
He delivered 14 overs during England's second innings that lasted 103, bowling five on the fourth morning as Australia charged to victory.
Captain Pat Cummins says holding Hazlewood back was linked to the relentlessness of the series, which sees both sides move on to Adelaide for a day/night Test starting on Thursday (December 16).
"He's a little bit sore," Cummins said.
"He came out today and was able to bowl, got through a really good spell.
"We just managed him, it's a five Test summer and he's key for us so don't want to blow him out of the water on day three.

"Nothing too serious but didn't want it to turn into a huge injury.
"The key is we don't want to put him in jeopardy for the whole series. We'll take our time."
David Warner was also absent from much of the second half of the game as he nursed a rib problem picked up while batting on day two.
He was struck on the chest by Ben Stokes and did not field during England's second innings, or come out to bat when Australia chased the 20 required for victory.
"Davey was available to bat. We just chose not to risk him," Cummins maintained.
"When we had 20 to win we couldn't find him. We looked everywhere in the stadium. I think he will be alright for Adelaide."
