We take a look at the historic figures ahead of the second day of the Perth Test to keep you ahead of the game
The Ashes series is well and truly alive after a first day played at a hectic pace – but what does history tell us about how tomorrow might pan out?
If you fancy a flutter during the series, then look no further as we've teamed up with Betfair to give you all the stats you need to know for each day of this epic five-Test series.
Despite an astonishing 19 wickets tumbling, both sides’ batters still found the boundary more than Perth Stadium’s day one average.
In all, 29 fours and a six were scored, which coincidentally is the average number for both metrics on the second day of Tests at this venue.
Between them, England and Australia managed 295 runs on the first day; 11.6 more than the average for the opening exchanges of Perth Stadium Tests.
History suggests fewer runs will be scored on day two (the average is 271.8), but this may count for little with Australia desperate to reach parity and England equally keen to take the game away from their opponents.
It’s been the quicks on top so far, and on today’s showing the day two average of 5.2 wickets falling to seam would appear to fall well short of where we might end up come close of play on Saturday.
