Nathan Lyon took 6-49 as England were bowled out for 146 inside two sessions to give Australia victory their first win at Edgbaston since 2001
Nathan Lyon's six wickets inspired Australia to a thumping 251-run win over England in the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston.
The off-spinner took figures of 6-49 from his 20 overs and took nine wickets in the match as Joe Root's side lost all ten wickets inside the first two sessions on day five, which handed the visitors their first Ashes win in Birmingham since 2001.
Pat Cummins took the other four scalps as England were dismissed for 146, which has seen Australia go ahead in an Ashes series for the first time since the infamous 2005 series.
Chris Woakes provided the best show of resistance with a well-made 37 before he fended the ball to Steve Smith at slip as the final wicket to fall. Joe Root and Jason Roy both made 28 but fell to Lyon before England's middle order collapsed once again.

Six England batsmen made single-figure scores, including James Anderson, who managed to come out as part of the final partnership but was still feeling the effects of his injury.
Australia had set up the game yesterday through second-innings hundreds from Steve Smith and Matthew Wade, but it was Lyon and Cummins who starred today with the ball as Australia head to Lord's with a 1-0 lead.
The second Test match begins on Wednesday, August 14.
