Plunkett will make his IPL debut, replacing the South Africa bowler who was ruled out of the tournament due to a lower-back injury
Delhi Daredevils have moved quickly to replace Kagiso Rabada, bringing in England's Liam Plunkett.
Plunkett will make his IPL debut, replacing the South Africa bowler who was ruled out of the tournament due to a lower-back injury.
Plunkett - who had a base price of 2 crore (approximately USD 308,000) - went unsold at the 2018 auction in January.
Rabada was initially bought for 4.2 crore (approximately USD 647,000).
Yorkshire's director of cricket, Martyn Moxon, told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It’s another example of us being between a rock and a hard place."
We are glad to announce that @Liam628 will be joining the #DDSquad as a replacement for the injured @KagisoRabada25.

"Surrey have had the same thing with Tom Curran. What do you do, stop a player going and earning a shed-load of money and have him disappointed around the dressing room for not allowing him to go?
"It’s a lose-lose really for the counties, and it’s one of the items that we’ll be discussing on Tuesday because, as counties, we feel powerless at the moment."
Plunkett - who had been recovering from a hamstring strain - was due to play for Yokrshire's second XI next week.
"Our take on it is that Liam is fit to bowl - he was due to play in the second team next week at Bristol - but he’s not match-fit," said Moxon.
"Being brutally honest, we left it to England and Liam to decide whether he felt fit enough to bowl in the IPL."
Plunkett has taken 110 wickets in his T20 career at an average of 26.70 and economy rate of 7.90.
