Mumbai: Mumbai Indians 127, UP Warriorz 129-5 - UP Warriorz won by five wickets

Sophie Ecclestone led from the front with the ball as UP Warriorz ended Mumbai Indians' 100 per cent record in the WPL.

Ecclestone claimed 3 for 15 as the Warriorz restricted Mumbai to 127, before reaching their target with three balls and five wickets to spare.

The England international claimed the key wickets of Hayley Matthews and Nat Sciver-Brunt as the Indians, who had won five out of five prior to this fixture, never established rhythm with the bat.

Matthews (35) was one of only three batters to reach double figures. Only Issy Wong, with 32 from 19 deliveries, accelerated the scoring.

Rajeshwari Gayakwad claimed 2 for 16 from her four overs, including the scalp of Amelia Kerr, while Deepti Sharma added two late run-outs to her 2 for 25 with the ball.

A modest score of 127 was always going to require a phenomenal bowling performance to defend, and three early wickets gave Mumbai a sniff of victory. But from 27 for 3 in the seventh over, Tahlia McGrath and Grace Harris stabilised the innings.

The Australians compiled a fourth-wicket stand of 44, and though Kerr eventually removed both (McGrath for 38 and Harris for 39), the pair established a platform for victory.

Mumbai remain top of the table, two points clear of Delhi Capitals in second.

UP Warriorz are third after their first win in three matches.
