Ben Charlesworth signs three-year deal with Gloucestershire

England Under-19 international Charlesworth impressed after breaking into the first team in 2018, scoring two Championship fifties and taking four wickets at 11.75

Gloucestershire have announced the signing of Ben Charlesworth until 2021.

The England Under-19 international broke into the first team in August of this year, going on to play six Championship matches, scoring 194 runs at 24.25 and taking four wickets at 11.75.

In September Charlesworth registered half-centuries in back-to-back fixtures against Middlesex (77*) and Glamorgan (72), batting at No.8.

The 17-year-old St Edward's, Oxford student represented England at Under-19 level against South Africa earlier this year, playing in two Youth Tests and two Youth ODIs.

Charlesworth said: “I am delighted to be signing my first contract with the club. I’m excited about the future with our young squad and I am grateful to all who have supported me.”

Head Coach, Richard Dawson added: “Ben has given us a glimpse into his potential, he will be joining the first team after finishing his exams next year. It is a huge boost for the club having Ben commit his future to Gloucestershire. We look forward to helping Ben improve and develop his game further in the next three years.”
