THE CRICKETER YOUNG WRITER AWARD: Ten-strong shortlist revealed as judges praise quality of entries

The judges have spoken and The Cricketer Young Writer Award shortlist has been announced. A total of nearly 100 entries were received from young men and women ranging in age from 24 down to 12 years old

The judges have spoken and The Cricketer Young Writer Award shortlist has been announced.

The competition, which was launched for its inaugural year by The Cricketer in the spring, has as its prize a £500 contract to write for the magazine's website this summer.

A total of nearly 100 entries were received from young men and women ranging in age from 24 down to 12 years old, with the judging panel impressed by the calibre of the work submitted and the variety of topics explored by the writers.

The 10 individuals to have been shortlisted are as follows (in no particular order):

Matt Roller

Oscar Ratcliffe

Will Jennings

Oliver Lathrope

Nick Friend

Brad West

Scott Hunt

Ollie Williams

Hugh Oxlade
