Gqeberha: Sunrisers Eastern Cape 210-2, Durban's Super Giants 86 - Sunrisers Eastern Cape won by 124 runs

Scorecard

Records tumbled as Sunrisers Eastern Cape embarrassed Durban's Super Giants with a bonus point victory at St George's Park.

Roelof van der Merwe, 38, claimed career-best figures of 6 for 20 as Sunrisers prevailed by 124 runs.

The margin of the victory is the biggest so far in the SA20, as Super Giants were bowled out for just 86 - their second failure to reach three figures in a row.

Earlier, Adam Rossington lashed 72 in 30 balls as Aiden Markram's side made 210 for 2 - the tournament's third-highest total.

Markram added 44 not out himself while Tristan Stubbs (27 not out) hit three boundaries in 13 balls to guide Sunrisers past 200.

But the real shock came in the chase as Super Giants, off the back of 80 all out in their last match against Pretoria Capitals, fell apart.

Van der Merwe, a veteran of nearly 300 T20s, was the star with six wickets, including two each in overs seven and nine to secure the win.

Kyle Mayers (11), Wiaan Mulder (29) and the unbeaten Keshav Maharaj (12) were the only batters to reach double figures during a second innings which never got going.

JJ Smuts, Markram and Marco Jansen also chipped in with wickets as Sunrisers claimed victory with 5.2 overs still to be bowled.

The result leaves the Super Giants rooted to the foot of the SA20 table and needing a swift about turn in fortunes to qualify for the last four.

Sunrisers, meanwhile, stay second in the table and are within touching distance of securing a place in the knock-out phase.
