Liam Livingstone flies home from IPL as Rajasthan Royals cite "bubble fatigue"

IPL latest news

Australian duo Kane Richardson and Adam Zampa have left the Indian Premier League citing personal reasons.

The bowlers, who both represent Royal Challengers Bangalore, are the latest players to prematurely depart from the competition following England international Liam Livingstone, fellow Australian Andrew Tye, and India and Delhi Capitals allrounder Ravi Ashwin.

Livingstone, representing Rajasthan Royals, returned home last week, citing bubble fatigue, while Tye (Rajasthan) and Ashwin departed in the past 48 hours due to concerns about the Covid-19 situation in the country.

India is currently experiencing a surge in Covid-19 cases, announcing over 350,000 new infections and nearly 3,000 deaths in the past 24 hours.

In a statement announcing their departure, RCB said: "Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson are returning to Australia for personal reasons and will be unavailable for the remainder of the 2021 IPL.

"Royal Challengers Bangalore management respects their decision and offers them complete support."

Pace bowler Richardson made one appearance for RCB, picking up the wicket of Shivam Dube against Rajasthan. Zampa didn’t feature in the playing XI despite the spin-friendly conditions.

Their absence means RCB have only six overseas players - Kyle Jamieson, Finn Allen, AB de Villiers, Glenn Maxwell, Dan Christian and Daniel Sams - at their disposal.
