The 2021 Pakistan Super League will resume on June 1st, the Pakistan Cricket Board has announced.

The T20 franchise tournament was postponed on March 4, after just 14 matches, following a Covid outbreak within the players’ and officials’ bubble in Karachi.

It was earlier reported that the remaining fixtures were due to be rescheduled for June and following a conference call between the PCB’s board of governors, it can be confirmed that the outstanding 20 matches will be completed between June 1st and June 20th at Karachi’s National Stadium.

Players participating in the tournament will face a mandatory seven-day quarantine period in the  tournament’s hotel from May 22. Three days of training sessions will follow before competitive action returns.

The PCB’s board of governors also received findings from Dr Syed Faisal Mahmood and Dr Salma Muhammad Abbas, who were tasked with reviewing the PSL’s bio-security protocols and arrangements.

The board voiced its disappointment with the failures highlighted from the tournament’s initial staging. However, they have confidence PSL 6 will be completed in a safe and secure environment, with the PCB in the final stages of appointing a globally-recognised safety management company that specialises in providing Covid-safe technology solutions, bio-secure monitoring & management, as well as response and reaction to positive tests.

The group stages will run from June 1st to June 14th, beginning with Lahore Qalandars versus Islamabad United. The playoffs will then take place from June 16th to June 18th before the final on Sunday, June 20th.
