Zimbabwe Cricket braced for ICC decision over membership suspension

A three-day board meeting in Dubai has considered ZC's future after their membership was temporarily halted in July

The ICC are set to rule on Zimbabwe Cricket's suspension when the governing body's quarterly board meeting concludes in Dubai.

The sport's administrators are meeting to consider whether ZC's full membership should be reinstated.

Zimbabwe have been barred from cricket's top table since July after they breached rules regarding governmental interference after their entire board was suspended by the Sports and Recreation Commission.

They were urged to reverse the decision by October 8 and to provide evidence they had done so, to stand any chance of having their membership restored.

Though ZC claim to have done this, it remains to be seen whether the ICC are convinced a complete about-turn has indeed been conducted.

The ICC could see fit to extend the suspension or terminate their membership permanently if they deem that sufficient progress has not been made.

As a result of the suspension, Zimbabwe Cricket have had their ICC funding withheld - they are due $94 million over an eight-year period - and seen their teams banned from ICC events.

The women's side were barred from competing in the World T20 qualifier which took place in August and September and replaced by Namibia.

Meanwhile, Nigeria were selected to stand in for Zimbabwe for the men's World T20 qualifying event which starts on October 18 in the United Arab Emirates.
