A viral infection has seen Shadab withdraw from the squad for the nine-game tour starting later this month
Pakistan have called Yasir Shah into their squad for the upcoming tour of England with World Cup doubt Shadab Khan ruled out due to a virus.
Wrist spinner Shadab will have treatment and rest over the next four weeks, meaning he will miss the entire tour and is now a doubt for the showcase tournament starting in May.
A statement added: "The Pakistan Cricket Board will now set up Shadab's appointment with specialists in England to help him fully recover."
Shah, previously ranked the number one spinner in Test cricket, has been enlisted as the replacement for the 20-year-old having been originally left-out of the 15-man squad for the World Cup.
Though included on the initial longlist which was unveiled at the start of April, Shah was overlooked for the tour and the World Cup, with Mohammad Amir and Asif Ali named on standby.
The Champions Trophy holders face England in one T20 and five one-day internationals starting from May 5. They also face Kent, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire in three limited overs warm-up games.
The 1992 winners have until May 23 to confirm their squad for the World Cup, giving Shadab just over a month to prove his fitness.
West Indies are the first opponents for Pakistan in the round-robin phase on May 31 at Trent Bridge.
Wrist spinner @Shah64Y has been named as Shadab Khan’s replacement for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against England, which will be played from 5-19 May.
