The five Wisden cricketers of the year have been announced, with three Australians, an Englishman and a South African being honoured by the prestigious Almanack.

Jofra Archer, Marnus Labuschagne, Pat Cummins, Ellyse Perry and Simon Harmer are the quintet singled out for the award, which can only be given to each cricketer once and relates to their influence on the previous English summer.

Archer burst onto the international scene with England, playing a major role in the World Cup victory, including bowling the decisive super over in the final against New Zealand. He followed that up with a sensational debut Test series against Australia.

Marnus Labuschagne filled in for Steve Smith at Lord's in August as Test cricket's first concussion substitute and has not lost his place in the Australian side.

Pat Cummins was a big reason behind the Aussies retaining the urn over the course of the five-Test series. The fast bowler took 29 wickets at 19.62, having helped himself to 14 during the World Cup campaign as Australia reached the semi-finals.

Ellyse Perry's dominance of women's cricket is recognised after the allrounder helped her country demolish their hosts. Perry racked up 378 runs at 94.5 across all formats in the seven-match series, as well as dismissing 15 English batsman, with an average of 12.8. She struck every 18 deliveries.

Simon Harmer captained Essex to the T20 Blast title, leading the way with bat and ball in the final against Worcestershire Rapids at Edgbaston. He was also the leading wicket-taker in the County Championship with 83 as Essex secured their second Division One title in three years.
