Trent Boult will miss at least one of New Zealand's two Tests against England in June after flying home from the Indian Premier League bubble.

Boult has returned to his young family following the suspension of the IPL, and will have to abide by quarantine measures when he arrives.

He has been given dispensation to join up with the Black Caps squad in the UK late, and will certainly miss the first Test, which is scheduled to take place at Lord's from June 2.

Boult could also be absent from the second Test at Edgbaston the following week but will be available for the World Test Championship final against India at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18.

The seamer was due to fly out of New Delhi on Thursday, while a number of his countrymen remain in the IPL bubble prior to their departure for England.

Trent Boult is to fly home to be with his family in New Zealand

Boult will serve his mandatory isolation in Auckland until May 22, before returning home to his family in Mount Maunganui. New Zealand Cricket say he will then leave for England in early June.

Coach Chris Donaldson, who has been working with Kolkata Knight Riders, will also make the trip back home to his family.

“We’re completely supportive of Chris and Trent taking the opportunity to see their families before heading to the UK,” said Mr White. “They’ve always been the consummate professionals and we’re more than happy to accommodate these arrangements.”

“We’ve worked closely with the BCCI and the IPL franchises on the various departure strategies and we’re very appreciative of their support during what is, clearly, a very challenging time.

“Were also very grateful to the England and Wales Cricket Board for accommodating the early arrival of the four members of the Test squad currently in India.”

Kane Williamson, Kyle Jamieson and Mitchell Santner, along with physio Tommy Simsek, will travel to England on May 11.
