Mark Wood was back with a bang this week, hitting speeds up of to 95mph at the Daren Sammy Stadium.

The Durham seamer gave England a much needed pace injection. He picked up his first Test match five-for in the first innings as the tourists secured a consolation victory in the three-match series.

Joe Root’s second-innings hundred was his 16th in Test cricket. Root’s knock saw him pass 2,000 runs as skipper - the tenth English captain to pass that milestone.

The third Test of the series saw an 11-year-old record beaten - that for the most wides in a match.

With a grand total 38, the Gros Islet Test outdid the 34 between West Indies and Australia at Bridgeton back in 2008.

With the wicket of Kusal Perera on Friday, South Africa’s Dale Steyn drew level with Stuart Broad’s Test wicket tally of 437.

The Englishman’s total have come from 126 Tests, while the Proteas quick is currently playing in his 92nd.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form for his country and was voted as the recipient for his performances during the period from January 9, 2018 to January 7, 2019. He took 44 wickets in the 14 matches he played during that time at an average of 25.61.
