Phil Salt will miss at least six weeks after breaking a bone in his foot.

Sussex batsman Salt sustained the injury in a bicycle accident before the start of the County Championship season.

His club remain hopeful that the destructive opener will be fit to feature in Sussex Sharks' T20 Blast campaign, the first game of which is scheduled for Friday, June 11.

A statement read: "Scans have revealed that Phil Salt has broken a bone in his right foot, which he injured prior the start to the season.

"He will spend at least two weeks in a protective boot before intensifying his rehabilitation, with an aim of returning to competitive cricket by the end of May."
