India will be without Shikhar Dhawan for the entire T20 series against New Zealand.

The 34-year-old suffered a shoulder injury during the one-day international series decider against Australuia and was rushed to hospital to be assessed.

X-rays have reportedly shown damage to the AC joint on the shoulder, ruling him out of all five matches and throwing his participation in the ODI series into doubt.

Virat Kohli's side flew to New Zealand on Monday without Dhawan ahead of the series which begins on Friday in Auckland.

Thereafter, India and the Kiwis face-off in three ODIs and two Tests before returning home for the visit of South Africa in March.

Ishant Sharma has also given India an injury scare ahead of the Test series after twisting his ankle while playing for Delhi in the Ranji Trophy.

Sharma has undergone an MRI scan on the injury to determine the full extent of the damage.

The squads for both the ODIs and Tests have not been revealed by the BCCI. The two five-day matches do not get underway until late February, with games in Wellington and Christchurch.
