The Surrey and England batter came into contact with an individual who tested positive, but not while on international duty
Ollie Pope will miss Surrey’s next four T20 Blast fixtures after being in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19.
The middle-order batter is currently self-isolating and will now miss Surrey’s upcoming fixtures against Sussex Sharks, Hampshire Hawks, Essex Eagles, and Somerset. He is expected to be available for the London derby against Middlesex on June 25.
In a statement, Surrey confirmed Pope was self-isolating and that he did not come into contact with the Covid-19 carrier while in England’s Test squad for their recent series against New Zealand.
"Ollie Pope will not be available to play cricket until June 24 having had contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19," a Surrey statement said. "He will now have to self-isolate until that time.
"Pope did not come into contact with the individual during his time with England in the recent LV= Insurance Test series against New Zealand and he has not had any contact with any Surrey CCC players or staff."
Fellow returning international Rory Burns is also unavailable for Surrey’s match against Sussex and Hampshire having been given an extended period of rest.
