Fellow allrounder Mitchell Marsh is being flown over by Australia as a back-up to the 29-year-old
Australia allrounder Marcus Stoinis is to miss his side's meeting with Pakistan on Wednesday after suffering a side strain.
The 29-year-old has featured in all of the holders' games so far this tournament but it has been confirmed that he will not recover in time to face Sarfraz Ahmed's side in Taunton.
Fellow allrounder Mitchell Marsh is understood to be flying over to England and Wales as a back-up, but Australia will wait to make a call on whether he permanently replaces Stoinis in their 15-man squad.
Marsh had been expected to travel to the UK later this week with the Australia A side ahead of their series of 50-over matches against county opposition. The 'A' tour will later become red-ball games to give key players preparation before the Ashes series.
Stoinis had been in decent form for his side in the tournament, but had a torrid time against India at the Oval on Sunday, where he recorded an economy of 8.86, the highest of any Australian bowler on the day, before being bowled second ball by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
However, the allrounder did take an outstanding catch off his own bowling to dismiss MS Dhoni during India's innings.
