In September 2018 Sir Alastair Cook brought a nation to its feet when he hit a century in his final ever Test innings.

And it was no less than what this England legend deserved.

No Englishman has played in more Test matches and no Englishman has scored more Test runs. This is a man who has seen all there is to see in the game and has been at the very centre of some of England's greatest, and also lowest, moments.

Critiqued by many during his career but ultimately appreciated and respected by all, Cook will give the Lord's Taverners' audience a fascinating insight into his life as an England player and captain, as well as offering his thoughts on the ongoing Ashes series.

The event will be held in the grand surroundings of Merchant Taylors' Hall in the heart of the City of London, where attendees will enjoy a three course dinner and an evening of entertainment. Present on the night will be Cook's mentor and England great Graham Gooch, president of the Lord's Taverners Sir Trevor McDonald and comedian and impressionist Kevin Connelly.

"Sir Alastair Cook is one of the all-time Test greats, and his resolve and courage at the crease inspired thousands. His exploits in the 2010/11 Ashes, record number of Test appearances, runs and centuries cement him as England's greatest opening batsman." Said Lord's Taverners CEO Paul Robin.

"Hear from former colleagues and teammates, his batting mentor Graham Gooch, as well as the man himself in what will be an amazing evening at the spectacular Merchant Taylors' Hall."
