Lancashire have handed professional contracts to seven young players.

George Balderson, George Burrows, Tom Hartley, George Lavelle and Jack Morley have extended their stays, while Owais Shah and Ed Moulton have been given their first professional deals with the Red Rose county.

England Under 19 captain Balderson has already featured in the club's first-team plans, while Morley has also been selected by the Young Lions.

Lancashire director of cricket Paul Allott said: “We’re really pleased to have engaged these seven highly promising cricketers who have all progressed through the Lancashire age-group system and played second XI cricket regularly this summer.

“I would also like to congratulate them all upon signing their first professional contracts here at Emirates Old Trafford and wish them the best of luck on their road to becoming successful professional cricketers with Lancashire.’

“We have a proud tradition of our own homegrown talent featuring in the first team and that has been reinforced with the successes of players such as Matt Parkinson, Saqib Mahmood, Rob Jones and Josh Bohannon this summer.

“Some of the players have had exposure to the professional environment already and we are looking for them to further stake a claim for first XI places, particularly with an increased opportunity to feature in next season’s Royal London One-Day Cup.”
