Central Districts opening batsman Sam Ferguson hit a rare double century as they beat Otago by 100 runs in the third round of New Zealand's U17 National Tournament on Sunday.
Ferguson reached the milestone with just two balls remaining, in an innings which included 21 boundaries and six sixes, as the Central Districts scored a mammoth 368 for six.
Otago were only able to muster 268 in response and the victory takes Central Districts to the top of the tournament leaderboard, as they remain unbeaten after the first three matches.
It was the first double century hit at the tournament since Simon Middleton scored 210* for Auckland during the 2009-10 season.
Ferguson wasn't the only youngster who took it to the bowling attacks, as Wellington batsman Caleb Montague scored 168 off 129 balls against Northern Districts on a high-scoring day.
