The 35-year-old picked up the injury ahead of his team's tournament opener against Cape Town Blitz on Sunday
Paarl Rocks’ JP Duminy has been ruled out of the entire Mzansi Super League competition after suffering a hamstring injury.
The 35-year-old picked up the injury ahead of his team’s tournament opener against Cape Town Blitz on Sunday.
The allrounder, who retired from international cricket after this summer’s World Cup, has been diagnosed with a ‘high-grade partial tear’ in his right hamstring.
Rocks skipper Faf du Plessis said his team will miss Duminy’ valuable experience.
“JP brings a lot of value in a lot of different areas. His experience will be missed, especially by the younger guys.” he said.
“I have full confidence in our team to bounce back from this. We have strengthened our batting this year and we’ll use this setback as motivation.”
Rocks coach Adrian Birrell said the team will set about working on a replacement after Sunday’s fixture.
“We will assess our options on Monday and then decide how to best replace JP,” he stated.
