Pakistan Super League side Islamabad United have become the first side in the competition's history to introduce home and away shirts in time for the fifth edition of the tournament.

Misbah-ul-Haq's side will wear their traditional red during home games but plan to switch to the change strip of predominantly yellow for games outside of the Rawalpindi/Islamabad area.

The two-time PSL winners claim to be the first side in Pakistani sport to introduce the concept of a changed kit.

"We have always prioritized quality over appearance, and the changes we have made for our kits over the past years have been reflective of that," owner Ali Naqvi said.

"While the concept of home and away kit is becoming more of a norm in cricket, we are proud to be the first to introduce that concept in Pakistan.

"Islamabad United has always taken pride in being innovative in everything on and off the field, and this is just a continuation of that.

"Our fans in Rawalpindi and Islamabad will see us in our familiar red. The Pindi Cricket Stadium is our home ground, where we have waited for five years to play, and we want to truly make it our home."

Captain Shadab Khan and South African duo Dale Steyn and Rassie van der Dussen will be among those players adorning the second strip during the 2020 season.

The PSL gets underway on February 20, with the competition taking place entirely in Pakistan for the first time after matches were hosted in the United Arab Emirates since its inaugural edition in 2016.
