Sunrisers Hyderabad take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in the sixth match of the 2021 IPL.
The game is scheduled for 7.30pm IST (3pm BST) on Wednesday, Apil 14, 2021.
Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium will stage the game.
Sunrisers Hyderabad got their campaign off to a losing start, falling short at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders in a high-scoring encounter. Failures for openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha meant that, even in light of half centuries for Manish Pandey and Jonny Bairstow, Sunrisers fell 10 runs short of their target.
Royal Challengers Bangalore, on the other hand, come into their second match of the competition buoyed by a victory over reigning champions Mumbai Indians in their season opener. Despite some unusual tactics that saw AB de Villiers come to the crease in the thirteenth over at No.5, Virat Kohli's side snuck over the line off the final ball of a thrilling chase.
Dafabet have Royal Challengers Bangalore as marginal favourites at 4/5, while Sunrisers Hyderabad are available at Evens for the win.
However, Sunrisers are the favourites to get off to a better start, with odds of 17/20 to emerge with more runs from their respective powerplays, while the bookies cannot split the sides on the highest number of sixes.
Captains David Warner and Virat Kohli are both available at 23/10 to be their sides' top run-scorers.
For Sunrisers, it is difficult to look past Rashid Khan as their most significant player - the fourth-ranked player on the T20 Player Index conceded just 24 runs from his four overs in the defeat against KKR, the best figures in the game by a considerable distance.
It will also be worth watching where Jonny Bairstow bats for David Warner's side. Despite the success of their opening partnership during their first stint together a couple of years ago, they were split up last time around and Bairstow came in at No.4 on Sunday - the same position in which he has been batting for England in T20Is. Whether Sunrisers would be better served with him at the top of the innings, however, time will tell.
For RCB, Glenn Maxwell was in fine fettle during the win over Mumbai Indians, while the promotion of Washington Sundar to open the batting was an intriguing move, even if it didn't pay off on this occasion.
RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal has recovered from Covid-19 and has provided three negative tests, which means he is back in the fold for Virat Kohli's men. Otherwise, it is difficult to see Kohli making many changes from an impressive first outing, during which new signing Kyle Jamieson impressed. Daniel Sams will not be available, having tested positive for Covid-19.
Sunrisers Hyderabad could make changes after their opening defeat. Kane Williamson wasn't risked due to a lack of match fitness, but the New Zealand captain could be called upon. Afghanistan allrounder Mohammad Nabi was struck on the neck while batting against KKR, though he has not been ruled out of contention for this clash.
The two teams have played each other 18 times.
Sunrisers Hyderabad wins: 10
Royal Challengers Bangalore wins: 7
Temperatures are expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius with conditions forecast to be sunny and still. There is a 20 per cent chance of rain.
No, this match will be played behind closed doors owing to the Covid-19 situation in India.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will look to carry the momentum of their opening victory into this game, having defeated the defending champions to get their campaign underway.
