Jasprit Bumrah will not feature for India in the white-ball leg of their tour of Australia following his exertions in the Test series.

Bumrah, who claimed 21 wickets to help fire his country to their first ever series victory Down Under, has been rested for the three-game ODI campaign.

Mohammed Siraj comes into the squad in place of his fellow seamer, after Bumrah bowled 157.1 overs with the red ball over recent weeks.

"It's a part of the workload management we are following," chief selector MSK Prasad told India Today.

Jasprit Bumrah got through plenty of work for India during the Test series against Australia

"You have seen how many players we are resting these days. This kid has played the T20s and the four high-intensity Tests.

"The body also takes a wear and tear. He is having a few niggles, he needs to recover. I am sure he will come back much stronger."

Bumrah will also sit out the limited-overs matches in New Zealand last this month.

Rohit Sharma returns for the games after the birth of his child, while MS Dhoni takes the wicketkeeping gloves from Rishabh Pant.

The ODI series against Australia is due to begin in Sydney on Saturday, with further games to follow in Adelaide and Melbourne.
