Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues have signed up with Melbourne Renegades ahead of the Women's Big Bash League.

Kaur returns to the WBBL after a two-year absence following a spell with Sydney Thunder.

Rodrigues, meanwhile, will feature in the tournament for the first time.

India now have six players participating in the competition with more expected to agree to deals with the team currently in Australia for a multi-format team.

Shafali Verma and Radha Yadav will turn out for the Sydney Sixers while Smriti Mandhana and Deepti Sharma will represent Thunder. All players will join up with their respective teams after their international commitments have concluded.

“It means a lot (to be back)," said Kaur. "The WBBL has given me a lot of experience and a great platform where I can perform and execute.

“Whenever I’ve played WBBL, I’ve seen many fans around and their excitement. Even lots of Indian fans are coming and watching – it’s a great experience for me. I’m glad that I’m part of this great tournament."

Rodrigues added: “I think for me, the main goal over here will be just to pull back and play cricket, play some good cricket and enjoy what I’m doing. I know when I do that and when I’m in that headspace, I’m able to give it my best.

“I’m super excited, I’m really looking forward to it and there’s so much that I’m going to learn, I’m sure about that.”

The pair join Englishwomen Eve Jones as the Renegades' three overseas signings.
